Check the model. If they have a PS5 Digital Edition or PS5 Pro, they can't play discs unless they've added Sony's disc drive — so a physical game may not be the right gift. A PlayStation Store gift card always works.
A DualSense controller in a new color
The most useful PS5 gift. Remember: PS4 controllers don't work with PS5 games.
DualSense Edge
Sony's pro controller with back buttons, trigger stops and replaceable stick modules. For serious players.
An M.2 SSD with heatsink
Adds storage for big digital libraries. Must be PCIe Gen4 NVMe with a heatsink — see our storage guide.
A headset made for PlayStation
PS5 doesn't support Bluetooth headphones, so wireless headsets use a USB dongle. A wired headset plugs into the controller. More in the headset guide.
The PS5 Disc Drive
For Digital Edition and Pro owners who want to play discs, buy pre-owned or trade in games.
PlayStation Portal
Streams games from their PS5 to an 8-inch handheld screen over Wi-Fi. Great with a fast, stable home network; frustrating without one.
A charging station
Charges two DualSense controllers at once.
PlayStation Store gift card
For games, add-ons or a PlayStation Plus subscription.
